() At least two men have been taken into custody for violent attacks on women in Chicago in recent months, police told local media.

An alleged serial “loop puncher,” identified by authorities as 32-year-old William Livingston, made headlines in September for alleged attacks on multiple women in Chicago’s central business district.

One victim, Kathleen Miles, was struck in the face while walking with a coworker to the train. The attack broke her nose and fractured multiple parts of her face.

“This has rocked our whole family cause the rock needs someone to take care of her,” Miles told affiliate WGN.

Chicago Police Department records show Livingston has been arrested seven times in the last 10 years for attacks similar to Miles’.

“I think every system has failed him, whether it’s mental health or the justice system, I feel he’s been failed,” Miles said. “And as a result, we’ve all been failed.”

On Tuesday, authorities arrested 37-year-old Derek Rucker of Blue Island, Illinois, for punching a 23-year-old woman at a train station, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Yara Afaneh told the outlet a man with no shoes on approached her and said “excuse me,” but hit her with a closed fist when she began to move away.

“Out of nowhere, he just punched me in the back of the head,” Afaneh told the Tribune. “I still have a headache right now.”

Notably, Afaneh says the attack happened far north of Chicago’s Loop community area, near Loyola University Chicago.

Across social media, videos of people claiming to have been the victim of a so-called “loop puncher” typically identified as Livingston are behind a string of alleged attacks in Chicago.
