A judge has sentenced Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to 50 months in prison.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison on Friday following his july conviction on two prostitution-related offenses.

Judge Arun Subramanian delivered the disgraced rapper’s sentence on October 3 after a lengthy hearing that included testimony from Combs’ six adult children and his lawyers. The Bad Boy Records founder also gave a 12-minute statement where begged the judge for mercy, saying that he was sorry for his “disgusting” actions and insisting that he was a changed man.

Combs was facing up to 10 years in prison on each count of violating the Mann Act by transporting people across state lines to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors in the case had argued that he should serve 11 years, while his defense attorneys wanted him released immediately.

Combs’ four-year sentence includes credit for time served. The hip-hop mogul has been behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since September 2024. He’s also been ordered to pay a $500,000 fine and will have five years of supervised release after he leaves prison.

Diddy will serve his time in federal prison

Diddy will serve out the remainder of his time behind bars at a federal prison.

“This is hard time in prison, away from your family, friends and community, but you will have a life afterward,” Subramanian told Combs on Friday.

Exactly where Combs will complete his sentence isn’t clear. His lawyer will make a recommendation about where Diddy would prefer to be incarcerated, according to The New York Times. The judge can also make a recommendation. However, the Federal Bureau of Prisons will ultimately decide which facility will house the high-profile inmate. His notoriety could affect where he ends up.

“Diddy has to be isolated from the general population for his safety because he’s a celebrity inmate, so that may limit the facilities he can be housed in,” former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told the BBC.

One this is certain: Diddy will be leaving the MDC. The infamous NYC jail is known for its difficult environment, with inmates voicing concerns about frequent lockdowns, crowding, violence, inadequate medical care, bug infestations, and unsanitary facilities. In August, one of Diddy’s lawyers wrote a letter to the judge highlighting “inhumane” conditions at the jail, including food that is “infested with maggots.”
