Cillian Murphy’s son was sweetly spotted in The Graham Norton Show audience by none other than pop sensation Taylor Swift.
The Irish actor, 49, and his family met the pop star at an Oscars party and on Friday’s episode of the chat show, Taylor sought out Cillian’s son Aran, 17, in the crowd.
Revealing their surprise meeting, Cillian said: ‘We were at a party and I had the whole gang and my family, and my kids. I don’t think my kids were legally allowed to be there.’
Taylor replied: ‘I don’t know but they were delightful. Your sons are the future of our world. They were such great conversationalists they were interesting and interested, that’s a real accomplishment.’
‘They’re here aren’t they?’ actress Greta Lee asked, as Cillian said: ‘One of them is here yeah, Aran. Wait where is he? Maybe he’s not here.’
But Aran was indeed in the audience and recognising him, in part due to his striking resemblance to his father, Taylor grinned as she pointed out to the audience and said: ‘Oh he’s right there, you can tell!’

Host Graham Norton laughed, as he added: ‘Oh my god he is so Cillian Murphy style.
‘If this was a game show we’ve all just won a prize.’
Elsewhere on the show, Taylor revealed fans ‘will know’ when she gets married – and she’s putting the wedding off until after she’s finished promoting her new album.
Asked by Graham when the wedding is happening, she said: ‘You’ll know. I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning. I think it will be fun to plan.
Talking more about her hotly-anticipated new album The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor said: ‘Last year on the tour I was physically exhausted – sick and worn down – so to spark me up I had the album as a secret passion project behind the scenes.
‘It stopped me hitting a wall.’
Asked if all the songs are inspired by her life, she said: ‘I am open about things but in recent years I have a different perspective and like storytelling at a little bit of a distance, so it isn’t like doing a complete autopsy of myself.’
Reminded that she once said she only wrote songs she can easily sing, she says, ‘I think my wheelhouse is bigger now.

‘I feel I can do anything now while running in heels. I am confident to write higher choruses, jump an octave, and do falsetto stuff. I have more confidence after the tour.’
Asked about specific songs on the album, she said: ‘My dad is very excited about Opalite, and it is Travis’s favourite. Growing opals in a lab is an interesting metaphor for making your own happiness; to rise above the trials and tribulations and be happy you did things on your terms.’
Taylor also spoke about acquiring the master rights to her first six albums from the investment firm Shamrock Holdings, which acquired them in 2020 after they were sold by her former label, Big Machine, to Scooter Braun in 2019.
She said: ‘A lifelong dream came true. I was able to buy my entire back catalogue. I don’t respond to stuff generally but not owning it really pissed me off.
‘I didn’t think I should be given it – I was happy to pay and at a premium. I am glad I spoke publicly about it and my fans got behind it and championed it.
‘I couldn’t believe it happened. Travis and I were in tears when it did. Every time it is mentioned, I get a wave of euphoria still.’
Taylor and Cillian were joined on the couch by Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Domhnall Gleeson and Lewis Capaldi, and seemed particularly struck by fellow singer Lewis, laughing as the Scottish star chatted.
The episode of The Graham Norton Show aired on Friday – the day her record was released.

It was just one of a series of high profile appearances for the star as she promoted her new album. She will also chat to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Monday before Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday.
On Thursday, BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Greg James teased that Taylor would be appearing on his show during her current trip to the UK.
Taylor created the collection of new music while performing her Eras tour throughout 2024.
‘I would do three shows in a row, [and then] I’d have three days off. I’d fly to Sweden, [then] go back to the tour,’ the singer-songwriter told fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce while announcing the new album on an August episode of their New Heights podcast.
She recalled: ‘I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating.’
About working with music legend Max Martin, she added: ‘It meant the world to me to have this creative experience, where [Max Martin, producer Shellback and I] knew that we had to bring the best ideas we’ve ever said.
