Sydney Sweeney marked a major milestone in her career, just two months after facing unrelenting backlash over her American Eagle campaign.

On Saturday, the Euphoria star, 28, was celebrated with the Achievement in Acting Award for her role in Christy at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

The actress appeared visibly elated in photos, beaming as she held her crystal award against the festival’s step-and-repeat. 

‘Thank you @hamptonsfilm for the achievement in acting award for @christy.movie,’ she captioned a slideshow of photos from the event.  

For the event, the two-time Emmy nominee dazzled in a structured white blazer mini dress featuring a sheer tulle skirt, complemented by Jimmy Choo heels.

Later in the night, she changed into white sneakers to celebrate the win.

This accolade concludes what has been a challenging period for Sweeney, who sparked a lively online discussion with her ad campaign for American Eagle jeans over the summer.

The campaign, which played on the phrase ‘good genes’ featuring a blonde, blue-eyed star, sparked comparisons to Nazi propaganda and ignited accusations of racism and eugenics when it launched in July. 

While the actress has not publicly addressed the backlash, her latest appearance suggests she’s eager to shift the focus back to her work as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young actresses.

Underneath her post, she received numerous kind messages from fans.

‘Congratulations, Syd! You’ve worked so hard for this,’ one wrote, while another added, ‘This is your Oscar, queen!’

Her mother, Lisa Mudd Sweeney, also weighed in: ‘Congrats! Beyond proud of you!’

Sweeney’s upcoming film Christy had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025.

It hits theaters next month on November 7.

To prepare for her role as boxing legend Christy Martin, Sweeney said she gained roughly 30 pounds and underwent an intense training regimen. 

This includes hitting the gym three times a day for three months with boxing coaches, nutritionists, and weight trainers by her side.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com earlier this year, Martin heaped praise on the actress for fully immersing herself in the role.

Speaking a few months before they joined the streets together for the 2025 International Boxing Hall of Fame Parade in Canastota, New York, Martin described Sweeney as a ‘perfectionist.’

‘She was really serious about her boxing,’ Christy gushed. ‘And with depicting the domestic violence she wanted to make sure everything was right.’

Ahead of the Christy premiere in Toronto, Sweeney made it clear she would not address the ad publicly.

‘I am there to support my movie and the people involved in making it, and I’m not there to talk about jeans. The movie’s about Christy, and that’s what I’ll be there to talk about,’ she told Vanity Fair.

Meanwhile, Sweeney’s personal life has been keeping the rumor mill busy, with reports linking her to manager Scooter Braun.

‘It’s not a casual relationship,’ a source told Page Six. ‘It’s game on. It’s full throttle. They are together.’ 

They first met and struck up a romance during the Amazon billionaire’s nuptials in Venice in June.

The actress was seen mingling with Tom Brady and Orlando Bloom, but she reportedly was intent on pursuing Braun, a source revealed.

The couple had reportedly been struggling with ‘major issues’ in their relationship, the insider said before adding that they were in ‘an incredibly toxic’ situation.

The source close to the couple claimed their romance is nowhere near a casual fling as they said: ‘I think anybody that goes public isn’t kidding around, right?’

Braun was previously married to mining heiress Yael Cohen, 38, for seven years before their split in mid-2021.
