CHICAGO (WLS) — A woman who was shot by a federal agent on Chicago’s Southwest Side on Saturday morning is among two people facing charges in the alleged vehicle-ramming incident that happened moments before shots were fired, according to federal prosecutors.

New video obtained Sunday by ABC News shows another alleged vehicle-ramming incident that happened Saturday on Chicago’s Southwest Side.

Marimar Martinez, 30, and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, 21, allegedly used their vehicles to strike another car, with three U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents inside, near West 39th Street and South Kedzie Avenue in Brighton Park.

Prosecutors said Martinez and Ruiz then used their vehicles to box in the agents’ car. The Department of Homeland Security said on Saturday that 10 vehicles boxed the agents in.

Unable to move his vehicle, the CPB agent who was driving got out of the car and fired about five shots at Martinez with his service weapon.

Martinez, who DHS says was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, drove off, but paramedics found her at a repair shop about 1 mile away from the scene. An ambulance took her to a hospital, where her gunshot wounds were treated.

Ruiz also drove away, but law enforcement officers located him and his vehicle at a gas station about a half-block away, the prosecutors said.

Martinez and Ruiz, both of Chicago, are in custody, charged with assaulting, impeding, and interfering with a federal law enforcement officer.

Video captured by a witness, shared with ABC News, was taken at Kedzie and West 40th Street.

A uniformed can be seen officer pointing a gun. Ruiz’s SUV is also seen at the gas station, Court documents say it’s the same gas station where agents later detained him.

Prosecutors say the two were allegedly part of a convoy that followed agents after a CBP operation.

Sunday night, ABC7 learned about an apparent second incident involving a driver ramming a federal vehicle. Video was captured from about six blocks north.

The driver of a black SUV can be seen ramming into the back of a white pickup truck with flashing blue lights. It’s not clear who is driving the SUV.

The SUV then can be seen chasing the pickup down Kedzie towards the direction of protesters. A second black SUV slams into the first one and what appear to be uniformed officers jump out

Several federal agents were hurt and taken to the hospital Saturday, officials said.

Chicago police issued a statement on Sunday evening, saying, “To clarify misinformation currently circulating, CPD officers did in fact respond to the shooting scene involving federal authorities on Saturday to maintain public safety and traffic control.

CPD also responded to the scene to document the shooting. There were no reported injuries to any members of law enforcement in this incident. Federal authorities are investigating this shooting and CPD is not involved in the investigation.

Additionally, later that afternoon, CPD responded to a separate call for service from federal authorities who were the victims of two hit-and-run crashes. These crashes were unrelated to the earlier shooting. Just as we do for any call for service involving a crime, we responded and documented the incidents.

CPD’s response to these situations reflected the City of Chicago’s Welcoming City Ordinance and our department policy regarding Incidents Involving Citizenship Status. We will always protect all individuals from harm, while prioritizing public safety and the sanctity of human life. The Chicago Police Department will always respond to anyone who is being attacked or is under the threat of physical harm.

As we have made clear before, we will respond to calls for service and enforce the law when crimes are committed. For incidents involving federal immigration enforcement, CPD supervisors will respond to the scene and determine the appropriate course of action in accordance with City law.”

DHS also said Martinez was named in a CBP intelligence bulletin last week for allegedly doxxing agents online.

Protesters, authorities clash on Southwest Side

The incident was followed by hours of tense clashes between protesters and federal authorities, who deployed tear gas, rubber bullets and other chemical agents several times.

Sara Barrera was filming the scene shortly after shots were fired. She says when her boyfriend followed orders to step back, federal agents threw him to the ground.

“He had his hand behind his back and they started saying he had a gun, but he was just scratching his back, and they all pointed guns toward him and ran towards him,” Barrera said.

Barrera shared photos of her boyfriend being taken away on a stretcher. She says she was not allowed to see him at the hospital, adding that federal authorities said he was in custody and would be charged after being treated.

“They’re doing way too much,” Barrera said. “They’re not even going for what they came here to do anymore… that was not an immigration issue.”

6 arrested during protests near Broadview ICE facility

Meanwhile, six people people were arrested as demonstrators and officers clashed near the Broadview Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility on Saturday.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said those arrested are facing charges such as resisting, obstructing and simple battery.

ABC7 cameras were on the scene when Illinois State Police detained at least four people.

The Broadview demonstrations came after Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced that President Donald Trump had authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard members to Chicago.

Broadview leaders, concerned about the possible deployment, filed an emergency motion on Saturday, seeking the removal of the fence erected by federal authorities around the ICE facility amid ongoing demonstrations.

The village, which has called the fence illegal and a safety hazard, asked a judge to grant the motion pending a Tuesday hearing on the village’s lawsuit against DHS.

DHS responded to that motion in its own court filing, saying there is no need for a hearing before Tuesday and adding that there could be a settlement on Monday.
