According to reports, President Trump advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to refrain from being “so f–king negative” following Hamas’s acceptance of significant portions of his Gaza peace proposal.
The blunt exchange unfolded when Trump called Netanyahu last Friday soon after the militant group finally responded to his plan, Axios reported.
While Trump perceived this progress as a significant achievement in his efforts to cease the conflict in Gaza, Netanyahu reportedly commented that it was inconsequential, as per sources.
“I don’t know why you’re always so f–king negative. This is a win. Take it,” Trump apparently shot back.
This development occurred after Hamas announced its intention to accept certain aspects of Trump’s 20-point plan to resolve the conflict, including the release of Israeli hostages.
The group stopped short of agreeing to calls for it to disarm and yield power in Gaza.
Hamas and Israeli officials were set to begin negotiation talks in Egypt on Monday.
The first phase of the talks will zero in on the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinians jailed in Israel.
“I am told that the first phase should be completed this week, and I am asking everyone to MOVE FAST,” Trump said in a social media post.
