A Georgia woman was allegedly found “covered in blood” at a Dollar General after stabbing a father to death inside a home down the road, authorities say.

“She was just standing there,” Detective Brandon Fincher, of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, told the Dalton Daily Citizen.

Requiya Reynolds, 33, is accused of killing Michael Cronan, 59, at a Whitfield County residence less than a mile away from the Dollar General on Beaverdale Road in Dalton where she was found Wednesday night, according to local officials.

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation both probed the incident after a 911 call came in at around 11 p.m. about Reynolds showing up to the discount store after the alleged stabbing. Officials say she told first responders at the scene that she attacked Cronan inside a home in the 2000 block of Dawnville Beaverdale Road and left him to die on the floor of the living room with multiple stab wounds.

“The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call stating that a female covered in blood was located at the Dollar General,” a WCSO release says. “Deputies responded to the residence at 2215 Dawnville Beaverdale Road and located Michael Cronan deceased on the floor of the living room.”

Reynolds was taken into custody and transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, where she was charged with murder. She is being held without bond. A motive has not been released for why she allegedly targeted Cronan.

“Everyone please pray for my family, my brother Michael Cronan was murdered Wednesday night,” wrote Cronan’s sister, Angie Cronan-Paige, on Facebook last week following his death. An obituary for Cronan describes him as someone who enjoyed “spending time with his family and friends,” including his son and daughter-in-law, and that he “never met a stranger,” per the description.

“Michael will be remembered most for his loyal heart and steadfast devotion to the people in his life,” the obituary says. “His warmth and genuine kindness made everyone feel like a lifelong friend. Michael’s compassion, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty earned him the deep respect and love of all who knew him.”
