CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Cleveland Browns are officially trading quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, the team confirmed Tuesday.
According to FOX 8 Sports Reporter John Sabol, the trade was made official on Tuesday. The team later confirmed the trade on X, saying, “We have agreed to trade QB Joe Flacco to the Bengals.”
This comes after Flacco was named the backup for Week 5 as the Cleveland Browns headed to London.
“I don’t think I foresaw it,” Flacco told reporters. “Listen, I think I said it on Sunday, anytime you’re in this league, I mean, everybody’s always getting evaluated. And, the job of quarterback is to help your team win football games. So, I don’t know if I foresaw it coming.”
The Browns will now get the 2026 5th-round pick.
The team announced in April that it was bringing Flacco back on a one-year deal.
Flacco was on his couch at the beginning of the season, then took the Browns into the playoffs and closed the season with a winning record of 11-6 in 2023.
Flacco started the first four games for the Browns in the 2025 season. He completed 93 of 160 passes for 815 yards and two touchdowns, according to the Browns.
This is Flacco’s 18th NFL season.
The Browns (1-4) are at the bottom of the AFC North. They play the Steelers (3-1) in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
