ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A civilian employee with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was arrested for attempting to meet a minor for sexual activities, JSO officials said in a statement Monday.

JSO said the man, Terrance Owens, 32, was a civilian employee in the Communications Center who had been with the agency since June 2025. In the statement, JSO said he was “immediately” fired.

According to the news release, St. Johns County deputies arrested Owens on Sept. 15, 2025, on charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, lewd and lascivious battery, human trafficking, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

“We hold our police, corrections and civilian employees to the highest standards and will not tolerate any criminal activity,” JSO officials said in the statement. “We commend our partners at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office for their work to protect our children.”

First Coast News has requested Owens’ arrest report. This is a developing story.
