Lauren Boebert's reelection campaign asks: 'Are aliens real?!'

DENVER (KDVR) Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., is running for reelection, and her latest campaign strategy is tackling a taboo topic.

In an email Monday addressed to conservatives, Boebert questioned the existence of aliens and demanded transparency from the government about UFOs.

It reads, in part:

“For decades, our government has shrouded the truth about UFOs in a veil of secrecy.

“Strange crafts have been spotted soaring through our skies, defying the laws of physics, and yet the bureaucrats in Washington act like we’re too NAIVE to handle the facts.

“They tell us we’re crazy like we can’t see these things flying through the air with our own eyes.

“I SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! The American people aren’t children to be spoon-fed half-truths or dismissed with vague excuses. We deserve to know what’s really going on up there.”

The email contains a link to a website that asks, “Are aliens real?!” and asks supporters to donate money to Lauren Boebert for Congress.

“This is almost a cry for help in politics, to be honest,” Democratic analyst Andy Boian told affiliate KDVR.

According to Boian, candidates on both sides of the political aisle often use attention-grabbing strategies when they are desperate for more money or more voter support.

“Neither of which I’m seeing right now, so I’m not really sure why this would go out to conservatives in her district,” Boian said. “And she may raise a few thousand dollars, but she’s also going to get a lot of really weird looks.”

Boebert’s campaign team confirmed the authenticity of the email to KDVR and said the digital campaign is “performing extremely well.”

“I agree with her. I think it’s time to get real about what could be happening,” Morgan Vaughn said.

Vaughn is a resident at the Flying Saucer RV Resort in Sheridan. It is not within the 4th Congressional District, which Boebert represents. However, Vaughn said the community is filled with people who also want to know what’s happening in the skies.

“I think this is the perfect spot to be into that also because we see stuff flying over all the time and we just think, what could that be?” Vaughn said.

She said Boebert’s campaign strategy would win her vote if she lived within Boebert’s congressional district.

“I can tell that she has a personality also, and she has an open mind and isn’t afraid of reaching for new truths because there isn’t a whole lot of truth going on right now,” Vaughn said.

Boian agrees that the topic of UFOs will likely get high engagement with people who receive the email. However, he questions the campaign’s timing.

“The government is shut down, and there’s no opportunity right now to talk. So, what she needs to be doing is facilitating a way to get the government open again, not worrying about whether or not we have UFOs in our skies,” Boian said.

Boebert has talked about UFOs publicly. In 2024, she questioned UFO experts during a congressional hearing. She concluded by saying she would keep asking questions until she got answers.
