Here’s your first glimpse of “Melania,” a new documentary film set to premiere in theaters nationwide on January 30, providing an inside look into the life of one of the most mysterious first ladies.

Amazon MGM Studios, which reportedly invested $40 million in the project, promises what it refers to as a “backstage pass” into Melania’s private world as she balances family, business, and her renewed role in the 20 days leading up to her husband’s 2025 inauguration.

The lavishly produced film, directed by experienced Hollywood filmmaker Brett Ratner, traverses the realms of high fashion, geopolitics, and international philanthropy as former top model Melania prepares for the inauguration and manages her family’s move into the White House residence for the second time in eight years.

‘Purpose & precision’

Highlights for fashionistas are her inauguration wardrobe fittings with some of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses, says an insider.

“Few people have had the opportunity to observe the world through the perspective of an incoming first lady, particularly during the 20 days ahead of the presidential inauguration,” says Melania.

“The preparation during this period is extraordinary. As first lady, I oversee every detail with great care, while still managing my family’s move, my business and my philanthropic work. These 20 days are where leadership, purpose and precision meet.”

Viewers will catch exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses inside multiple Trump homes — Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., Trump Tower in New York City, and the executive mansion in Washington, DC.

Nineteen-year-old First Son Barron Trump makes cameo appearances, along with President Trump and other members of the family, as the cameras follow Melania each day into private business meetings, and intimate personal interactions at home, according to Marc Beckman, Melania’s agent and a producer on the film.

Largest Amazon deal

Beckman negotiated the Amazon licensing deal, the largest ever in the powerhouse studio’s history. It includes a three-part docuseries to be streamed on Prime Video.

President Trump had nothing to do with the deal, says Beckman, who would not say what the first lady’s cut of the film is, other than to say the $28 million that has been reported is not accurate.

He rejected claims that Melania pitched the idea to Amazon owner Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, over dinner at Mar-a-Lago in December.

Beckman personally conducted the negotiations, which began soon after the election last November and turned into a bidding war between multiple studios, including Amazon, Disney and Paramount.

He said the first lady, who has executive-producer billing, chose Amazon because they had “the most impressive team and most forward-looking vision to execute, but they were also the only ones capable of launching in theaters nationally and streaming worldwide.”

Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, trumpeted the film and docuseries as a “backstage pass [into] the inner workings of the first family [and] an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at Melania Trump.”

Filmmakers are currently at work finishing both the film and the accompanying three-part docuseries.
