JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two individuals wanted for aggravated child abuse and endangerment were arrested on Tuesday, according to the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

Harry James Reed II, 26, and Alexis D. Austin, 22, both of Johnson City, were arrested at a residence in Gray on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff Keith Sexton said a grand jury indicted Reed and Austin in January for aggravated child abuse and neglect of a child under 8, aggravated child endangerment and child endangerment. The indictments reportedly followed a Jan. 2024 investigation.

The WCSO said an anonymous tip led to the arrests after “multiple attempts were made to locate the pair.”

Reed and Austin were taken to the Washington County Detention Center. Austin was being held on a $50,000 bond. Reed reportedly had outstanding warrants for failure to appear and violation of probation. His bond was set at $75,000.

The pair will appear in Washington County Criminal Court next term, according to the WCSO.
