The victim had a gunshot wound to the chest, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

There is no one in custody, and Area One detectives are investigating.

Chopper 7 was over the scene Wednesday morning, and Chicago police were seen investigating a large area.

Cars were filled with bullet holes.

Neighbors said they woke up to a large police presence.

Some heard gunshots overnight, as well.

“To wake up and hear, that I’m very concerned,” neighbor Clyde Caldwell said. “This happening maybe in the wee hours of the morning, at night, when the kids should have been at home, and my concern is where’s the parent?”

Some neighbors did not want to be identified.

“It’s very sad,” one said. “No child should lose their life. That child should have been at home; he should not have been here in the streets.”
