DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Vermilion Advantage announced the departure of its President and CEO amid an ongoing bribery and misconduct investigation into the organization by Illinois State Police.

Just before 3 p.m. on Thursday, Vermilion Advantage announced that per his request, the now former President and CEO Mike Marron is no longer employed by the organization, effective immediately.

This comes just one day after Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy announced that her office received information on Tuesday of bribery and misconduct allegations against Vermilion Advantage, the Vermilion County Board and Vermilion County elected officials.

WCIA reported on Wednesday that the Illinois State Police Special Investigations Unit is leading the investigation. As the investigation is ongoing, State Police did not specify which Vermilion County elected officials the allegations are regarding.

“We sincerely appreciate Mr. Marron’s contributions to the organization and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Vermilion Advantage said in its press release.

WCIA reached out to Marron for comment and has not heard back. We also reached out to Vermilion Advantage Board Chair Gary Tucker for more information on Marron’s departure but did not receive an immediate response back.

This is a developing story. WCIA will continue to update as new information is received.
