() The Department of Homeland Security saw the most significant jump in public approval among a group of federal agencies in the past year, a new poll found.

Gallup reported 42% of respondents said the job being done by DHS was either “excellent” or “good,” an increase from 32% last year.

Twenty-three percent of respondents said the job being done by the DHS was “only fair,” while 33% said it was “poor.”

The increase in approval comes amid the Trump administration’s heavy crackdown on immigration. On Tuesday, the department touted a 55-year low in Border Patrol apprehensions.

“For too long, agents and officers were handcuffed by failed policies. Today they are empowered to do their jobs and the result is the lowest apprehensions in more than five decades, and the most secure border in modern history,” Rodney Scott, Customs and Border Protection commissioner, said in a Tuesday news release.

The poll found a significant drop in approval for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The number of those who perceived FEMA as doing an “excellent” or “good job” fell from 46% to 26%.

In September, the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office said the Trump administration broke the law when it held back three types of grants managed by FEMA.

As in 2024, the U.S. Postal Service was the sole government agency to receive a majority-positive rating for its work. It was also the only agency whose rating has not worsened among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents since last year.
