Prime Video has finally revealed a premiered date for season 2 of crime thriller series Cross. But fans will still have to wait a few months for new episodes.

The show – which is based on characters created by best-selling author James Patterson – returns Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The first three episodes of season 2 drop on that date, with new episodes following each Wednesday through March 18.

Matthew Lillard joins ‘Cross’ cast for season 2

Cross stars Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross, a Washington, D.C., homicide detective and forensic psychologist. In season 2, Cross pursues “a ruthless vigilante who is hunting down corrupt billionaire magnates.”

“This begins and ends with me,” Cross says in the first teaser for the new episodes, which also shows a speedboat racing away from a burning mansion and a car racing through city streets.

“If anyone hears about this, you’re done,” a man warns Cross, while a woman tells him to “stay alive.”

In addition to Hodge, Isaiah Mustafa, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill all return for season 2. Matthew Lillard, Jeanine Mason, and Wes Chatham have joined the cast.

How did ‘Cross’ Season 1 end?

Cross Season 1 ended with Cross catching Ed Ramsey (Ryan Eggold), aka the Fanboy killer. But the police named Ramsey’s accomplice Bobby Trey (Gill) as the real murderer, denying Ramsey the notoriety he craved. But this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Trey. In a post-credits scene, FBI agent Kayla Craig (Alona Tai) sat down with Trey to explain that he’d get a sweetheart deal if he agreed to provide information on the Fanboy killer’s victims. In exchange for a light sentence (and a cash bonus on his release), Craig wanted Trey to provide the “dirt” that Ramsey obtained on various notable figures.

Exactly what Craig plans to do with all the dirty secrets compiled by Ramsey isn’t clear. But fans of Patterson’s novels will know that her name mirrors that of a major villain from his books: Kyle Craig.

Cross creator Ben Watkins told Entertainment Weekly he wanted Craig’s meeting with Trey to cause viewers to consider her character and motives.

“I also wanted to plant a seed that would make you question the different levels of Kayla Craig, who has just been nothing but helpful the entire time. Sometimes [she’s] a little comic relief, a little sarcastic humor, sometimes a little romantic chemistry, but mostly just someone who’s been helping. So I wanted to make you question her a little bit,” he said.

Meanwhile, the ramifications of Ramsey’s collection of secrets will play out in season 2, and perhaps beyond.

“I felt like we’d set up a really powerful component to Ramsey in terms of him using leverage on people,” Watkins said. “I wanted to keep alive this idea that that treasure trove of dirt on people could still be kept alive going into new seasons.”

Cross Season 1 is streaming on Prime Video.
