Rapper NLE Choppa and his mother, Angela Potts, are breaking their silence after facing public accusations from two of the women with whom he shares children.

The 21-year-old artist, whose real name is Bryson Lashun Potts, took to Instagram to respond indirectly to recent claims made by his ex-girlfriends Marisa Da’Nae and Mariah. Both women alleged that the rapper has been neglecting his parental responsibilities, accusations Choppa appeared to address through a post that showed a softer side of fatherhood.

In a video shared to his Instagram page, Choppa is seen brushing his 5-year-old daughter Clover’s hair. “Ne•Glect: (Verb) Fail To Care For Properly. (Noun) The State Or Fact Of Being Uncared For. Looks like neglect to me,” he wrote in the caption, adding a laughing emoji and two hearts. “PS: This toothbrush is designated ONLY for her hair!”

His mother, Angela Potts, also stepped in to defend her son, reposting a clip of Choppa with Clover and his 2-year-old son ChoZen Wone Da’Shun Potts, whom he shares with Da’Nae.

“Let that man continue to be a good father just like y’all are good mothers,” she wrote. “Kids need both parents. Y’all all can agree to disagree and continue to be great parents like you are now. All this bashing is unnecessary. Have a blessed day.”

Potts followed up with a carousel of family photos featuring Choppa and his children, captioned simply, “Always grateful.”

The social media posts came shortly after Marisa Da’Nae filed new court documents accusing the rapper of being inconsistent in his parenting and subjecting her to emotional and physical abuse during their relationship. The pair have been in a custody dispute since July, after Choppa filed to gain primary custody of their son.

“Yeah trying to take me to court for a child he barely see,” Da’Nae wrote on social media at the time. “A child he had fasting at 1 year old. Saying a child didn’t need to eat 3 times a day. Kids come home starving.”

Choppa’s ex Mariah also weighed in with her own claims recently, alleging on social media that he was “starving” their daughter Clover. For now, the rapper and both women appear to be standing firm in their positions, with the custody cases still ongoing.
