Storm Team 3: Cool for the weekend, warmer for the work week

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – It’s shaping up to be another chilly, windy, and overcast day across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry as a stubborn coastal low continues to sit just offshore. Expect periods of on-and-off rain throughout the day, especially east of I-95, closer to the low’s center. With strong north winds and limited sunshine, temperatures will struggle to climb out of the upper 60s and low 70s…definitely a day to grab a jacket!

We’re also keeping a close eye on this morning’s high tide. Yesterday’s tide peaked at 10.35 feet, briefly closing Highway 80. Today’s tide is expected to reach around 9.7 feet, which could still cause minor flooding. However, Highway 80 is likely to remain open.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, we’ll still be stuck under a mostly cloudy sky with breezy and cool conditions. A few isolated showers are possible, and highs will once again hover near 70. The good news? The coastal low begins to move away late tomorrow, gradually lowering rain chances into Monday. By Monday, expect more sunshine and a warm-up to the upper 70s. That trend continues through the rest of the workweek with a mostly sunny sky, dry conditions, and pleasant highs in the upper 70s to low 80s…perfect fall weather!

As for the tropics, Tropical Storm Jerry is expected to gradually weaken into Monday as it moves northward and continues to pose no threat to the U.S. Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave located well south of the Cabo Verde Islands. This system is currently producing a broad area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development is possible over the next several days as it moves west-northwest to northwest at 10 to 15 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
