Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly slammed Fox News for seemingly concealing its rocky relationship with Charlie Kirk , who she says was secretly banned over his support of Tucker Carlson . Kelly accused the network of refusing to have the Turning Point founder as a guest after he backed Carlson, who Fox News fired in April 2023.

‘It’s really bothering me how Fox News is talking about Charlie like he was theirs, like he was one of theirs, well, he wasn’t,’ Kelly claimed. ‘It’s a lie. Just stop’. Kelly added that Kirk’s team was ‘annoyed’ at Fox News, and that the network considered him as an ‘other’. She said that Kirk was sidelined for at least two years following his support of Carlson and that she was surprised to see him return as a guest earlier this year.

Kelly went on to say that she thought some people at Fox were friends with Kirk, but the network as a whole had refused to let him on air until the apparent ban seemed to thaw in the lead-up to his death. Kirk had appeared on Fox as recently as the day before he was assassinated, when he appeared on The Will Cain Show.

Kirk had previously excluded Fox from his annual AmericaFest event in December 2023, telling Breitbart in an interview: ‘I love Fox. They’ve been very good to me. I hope we can heal our relationship, because for whatever reason, it’s gone off the reservation.’ He said at the time that he hadn’t been on the network since Tucker Carlson sensationally left Fox in April of that year.

In last Friday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox personality said that she had multiple ‘behind-the-scenes’ conversations and wouldn’t reveal who told her about the supposed ‘Kirk ban’. Kirk later returned to the network, co-hosting Fox & Friends in July. He also joined Harris Faulkner on Faulkner Focus to discuss the rising conservatism among Gen Z earlier this summer.

‘I’m not saying they shouldn’t mourn Charlie’s loss. It’s just, all I want to say is he was one of ours,’ she continued on the episode last Friday. ‘He was someone who was an insurgent. He was in the digital lane. He was independent. Fiercely independent.’ Kelly commended Kirk for his willingness to say yes to anything, admitting that she had been invited to appear on many shows he did but declined.

She eulogized Kirk as being ‘loving,’ ‘forgiving,’ and willing to go on anyone’s show, but was dedicated to his own platform. Kelly added that she didn’t want ‘revisionist history’ to ‘fold him in’ to the mainstream media because he operated on the fringes. Fox News personalities have honored the late podcaster on their network since Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10.

On Jesse Watters’ show after Kirk’s assassination, the Fox host declared war between liberals and conservatives . He also praised Kirk as the ‘greatest community organizer in American history,’ and credited him for helping Donald Trump win Arizona. ‘Charlie Kirk was not a “controversial” or “polarizing” man. Charlie was a PATRIOT,’ Watters posted on X.

Fox star Sean Hannity paid tribute to Kirk on his show, praising the commentator for offering young people ‘validation for their political beliefs’. Hannity said that Kirk ‘challenged the institutionalized liberal indoctrination’ of college campuses. Cain also honored Kirk, calling him ‘one of the most influential professors’ in the nation. He covered breaking news on the day of Kirk’s assassination, noting on air that they had been texting just a day before.

‘If we took a survey right now of 17-, 18-, 19-, 20-year-olds on college campuses and asked them who were the most influential people in their own education, I would probably put Charlie Kirk against any one of their professors,’ he added.
