DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) — Crews responded Monday morning to a plane crash on I-195 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Massachusetts State Police said they received a call around 8:15 a.m. about a fixed-wing plane that crashed in the median near Exit 19.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said both sides of the highway were closed at Exit 22.

Videos on social media show a small aircraft in the median. Flames can also be seen across the highway.

State police said preliminary information indicates the plane may have been trying to land at New Bedford Regional Airport, though it “does not appear that the pilot provided the Airport with a flight plan or the number of souls aboard the aircraft.”

It’s unclear if anyone was injured.

This is a developing story.
