On Monday, former President Biden praised President Trump for his recent diplomatic efforts in the Israeli conflict in Gaza, following the release of 20 Israeli hostages by Hamas.

“My heart is filled with gratitude and relief for the 20 hostages who have endured unimaginable suffering and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones,” Biden expressed in a detailed post on the social media platform X. He also highlighted the plight of civilians in Gaza, acknowledging their profound losses and the opportunity they now have to rebuild their lives.

Biden noted the challenging path to the agreement, stating, “My Administration worked tirelessly to ensure the hostages’ return, provide aid to Palestinian civilians, and bring an end to the conflict. I commend President Trump and his team for successfully negotiating a renewed ceasefire deal.”

The hostages were released by Hamas on Monday, marking the initial phase of a peace agreement facilitated by President Trump’s administration. As part of the ceasefire, Israel also released over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners on the same day.

“Now, with the backing of the United States and the world, the Middle East is on a path to peace that I hope endures and a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal measures of peace, dignity, and safety,” Biden said in his Monday post.

On Sunday, former Biden national security adviser Jake Sullivan backed President Trump getting credit for the deal between Israel and Hamas.

“Do you think he deserves credit here?” CNN’s Dana Bash asked Sullivan on “State of the Union.”

“Of course he does. And I give credit to President Trump, I give credit to [Steve] Witkoff and [Jared] Kushner and [Secretary of State Marco] Rubio. These are hard jobs,” Sullivan replied.
