Nicole Kidman finds herself amid a transformative period in her life.
The Oscar-winning actress, 58, officially initiated divorce proceedings from her husband, Keith Urban, 57, on September 30, concluding their 19-year marriage. The couple, who are parents to daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, have not publicly disclosed the reasons behind their separation. However, sources suggest that they had gradually grown apart over time. According to People, Kidman was inclined to attempt reconciliation, but Urban was not interested in repairing their relationship. He is now reportedly involved with 25-year-old musician Maggie Baugh.
“Their breakup has taken a tumultuous turn,” an insider revealed. “Nicole is feeling hurt and betrayed. She believed she could save their marriage, but it appears that Keith has already moved on.”
Nicole Kidman says sometimes life’s challenges ‘feel insurmountable’
The dissolution of her second marriage marks a significant moment for Kidman, who was previously wed to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. Yet, in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she expressed confidence in her ability to navigate personal challenges.
“The most rewarding aspect of getting older is the wealth of experiences you gather,” she shared. “It allows you to say, ‘I’ve encountered similar situations before and know how to manage them,’ or ‘Even if this is new, I have been through comparable experiences and trust that I will persevere.’
However, knowing that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel doesn’t lessen the pain of the moment, she added.
“There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through,” the Big Little Lies star said. “You’re going to have to feel it. You’re not going to be able to numb it. You are going to have to feel it, and it’s going to feel insurmountable at times. You’re going to feel like you’re broken, but if you move gently and slowly—and it can take an enormous amount of time—it does pass.”
‘I’ve survived a lot,’ the ‘Big Little Lies’ star says
Despite the turmoil, Kidman said she feels fortunate to have accumulated a wealth of experience she can draw on during difficult times.
“As I get older, I want to be able to share and impart the things I’ve learned. I’ve seen a lot, I’ve experienced a lot, and I’ve survived a lot,” she said. “I want to pass on some of that knowledge and that wisdom and whatever I’ve learned. I’m not big on telling people what to do, but I’m more than happy to share.”
Her kids serve as a guiding light, the Australian star added. (In addition to her daughters with Urban, she shares Connor, 30, and Isabella, 32, with Cruise.)
“I’m grateful to be a part of this world,” Kidman said. “I’m grateful to be surviving as a woman, as an actress, and as a producer, professionally and personally. Also, my children [give me the] purpose of being their protector and their guide, promising them that I’m here and that, no matter what, there’s always a safe place to grow up in.”
