BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. — A probe into animal cruelty has been initiated in Bulloch County following complaints from locals about unpleasant odors permeating the neighborhood.

Authorities discovered over 50 cats and dogs at a home on Sunnview Court’s 1700 block. In a collaborative raid involving several agencies, including Animal Services, an elderly couple was apprehended.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Captain Todd Hutchens of the Criminal Investigation Unit indicated that the couple could be charged with both felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty. Although they have not yet been formally charged, the exact nature of these charges will be disclosed later.

Officials reported that the residence was in a dire state, with floors smeared with fecal matter and urine. These conditions created strong ammonia-like odors, prompting neighbors to raise concerns.

Further updates will be available during the News 3 broadcast at 6 p.m.
