Taylorville Car Theft: Police Urgently Seek Leads in Recent Break-In

The Taylorville Police Department, along with Crime Stoppers of Christian County, is reaching out to the community for assistance in solving a car burglary that took place early on Monday morning.

On Tuesday, the department shared dashcam footage via Facebook, capturing the moment a vehicle was broken into on October 13 around 4 a.m. The video reveals a masked individual using a flashlight to rummage through the vehicle’s center console and front area before leaving through the back door.

Taylorville Police Chief Dwayne Wheeler informed WCIA that a witness reported seeing two individuals on bicycles near the scene at the time of the incident. Despite these observations, no arrests have been made, and the department has yet to receive any leads on the suspect. Detectives continue to investigate the case.

The police urge anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect caught in the video to reach out to Christian County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling 217-824-9100 or through their website.
