The pair reportedly started seeing each other following Perry’s separation from Orlando Bloom. Their initial public appearances have stirred significant interest, catching Trudeau, who is no stranger to the public spotlight, somewhat off guard.

On October 12, photographs surfaced showing Trudeau and Perry sharing a close moment aboard a yacht near Santa Barbara. Speculation about their relationship began after Perry performed in Canada earlier this year. News of their dinner dates quickly spread, a development that Trudeau didn’t anticipate.
“Justin was taken aback by how quickly word got out about their intimate dinner,” a source revealed to People. “He was also astonished by the global fascination and how it intensified for several days.”
Having served as Canada’s prime minister from 2015 to 2025, Trudeau is accustomed to being in the media’s glare. However, it seems that the spotlight on his personal life is proving to be a bit much for him.
“He’s generally okay with media attention as long as it doesn’t disrupt his life,” the source continued, adding, “but he would rather keep things more private.”
“As long as [media coverage] goes his way, then he’s fine,” the source said, but noted, “he would prefer it more low-key.”
Still, the attention wasn’t enough to push him away from the budding relationship.
“Justin and Katy are for sure attracted to each other on several levels and had a wonderful time together in Canada,” the source continues, adding, “They discovered how they agree on many things and really enjoyed their encounter in Canada for as short a time as it was.”

Perry and Trudeau’s relationship began amid her breakup, and she reportedly wasn’t looking to date anyone.
“When she first hung out with Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch,” a source told People. “They have many shared interests and a lot of talk about, but Katy was navigating too many things to even think about dating then.”
Trudeau has reportedly been “been pursuing her since” her Canadian tour dates over the summer.
“He even flew to California to see her during a tour break,” the source said. They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”
They added that Perry and Trudeau have an “easy connection.”

Perry’s burgeoning relationship comes on the heels of her split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom. The pair were together on and off for nine years, and confirmed their split after a long period of rumors.
“Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years,” a source told People. “[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level.”
They reportedly wanted to make things work, but found it impossible. They are hoping to remain amicable for the sake of their daughter.
