Authorities in Arizona are intensifying their efforts to locate 28-year-old Matthew Spencer, who mysteriously vanished while driving from Las Vegas to his new residence in Houston.
Matthew was last in contact with his family on August 6. Known for being exceptionally close with his family, especially his twin sister Kara, his sudden silence is highly unusual and concerning.
Earlier this summer, Matthew decided to embark on a fresh chapter by relocating from California to Houston, Texas. His adventurous spirit often leads him to explore new destinations.
For this journey, he chose to travel in his 2006 Hyundai Tucson, planning a leisurely trip rather than a non-stop drive. His itinerary included a visit to his sister Kara in Las Vegas, followed by stops in Arizona and New Mexico en route to Texas.
Matthew reached Las Vegas on August 1 and stayed until August 4, before resuming his journey to Texas.
Matthew plans to split the rest of the 20-hour drive into several days. On August 5th, Matthew’s car is spotted coming into Flagstaff, Arizona.
On August 6, Matthew checks in with Kara, telling her he’s arrived in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. The two chat over text until 10:54. Matthew’s last message saying he’s ‘driving in the desert.
On August 7, Matthew does not respond to his sister’s text messages, so after more than 12 hours Without contact, Matthew’s family reports him missing. Authorities found Matthew’s silver 2006 Hyundai Tucson on camera entering Flagstaff.
Matthew’s Tucson has not been located
Matthew is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He usually has a mustache and wears glasses.
