Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are said to be maintaining a close connection through frequent FaceTime calls and messages, despite their busy schedules keeping them apart, an insider has disclosed.

The 40-year-old pop sensation and the 53-year-old former Canadian Prime Minister first ignited dating rumors during the summer after being spotted together in Montreal.

Speculation about their possible romance grew over the weekend when the pair was caught sharing a passionate kiss on Katy’s yacht, just off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.

According to a source, Katy and Justin have been secretly dating since the beginning of summer. While the singer’s Lifetimes Tour demands much of her time, the duo reportedly keeps in constant communication.

An insider told The Sun, as reported by Express US, “They haven’t been able to spend a lot of time together as she’s on tour, but they’re constantly in contact—always FaceTiming and messaging each other.”

In July, the pair were seen walking a dog together and dining at Le Violon in Montreal, Canada, with Justin later attending Katy’s Lifetimes tour stop at the Bell Centre.

Their outings began shortly after both ended long-term relationships. Perry confirmed in June that she and actor Orlando Bloom had parted ways.

The couple share a five year old daughter.

Justin also announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. They have three children together.

A source has revealed that Katy and Justin share an “easy connection”, despite the fact that Katy wasn’t initially looking to date. 

The insider told People, “When she first hung out with Justin, she wasn’t looking to date, but they stayed in touch.

“They have many shared interests and a lot of talk about, but Katy was navigating too many things to even think about dating then.”

The source further disclosed that after their first date in Montreal, the former PM had been “pursuing” Katy, even flying to California to see her during a tour break.

“They have an easy connection,” the insider reiterated. “She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”

In August, another source familiar with the situation told People the two had an “instant connection” and were exploring their interest in each other.

“They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” the source said.

“She is travelling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”

The source also mentioned that both have shared parenting duties. They said, “There are ways to see the other and still fulfil their parenting responsibilities.”

Katy and Justin have yet to publicly comment on their romance.
