The final pre-trial proceedings have concluded for a Wisconsin man facing charges of murdering his newborn daughter when he was a teenager. Logan Kruckenberg Anderson, now 21, stands accused of abandoning his newborn daughter, Harper, in the woods back in January 2021. This tragic event allegedly took place just days after Harper’s mother gave birth at a home in the Village of Albany.
According to earlier reports from CrimeOnline, on January 9, 2021, the baby’s maternal grandfather alerted authorities. He informed them that his daughter had delivered a baby and that Kruckenberg Anderson had taken the infant, with neither being seen since.
Upon locating Kruckenberg Anderson, police say he initially claimed to have handed the newborn over to a friend by the name of “Tyler.”
Later, as reported by WIFR, the baby’s mother revealed to the police that both she and Kruckenberg Anderson felt unable to care for the child and believed they needed to find another solution for her.
The baby’s mother later told police that they had decided they couldn’t keep the baby and needed to do something with her, WIFR reports.
Law enforcement found Harper’s body with gunshot wounds in the woods, hidden in snow. Police subsequently arrested the defendant and charged him as an adult.
He later confessed to shooting the baby twice in the head. A criminal complaint stated that a juvenile told police that Kruckenberg Anderson gave him a firearm.
The firearm matched bullets found next to Harper’s body, Law&Crime reports.
Kruckenberg Anderson’s trial has been set for October 27. He’s facing charges that include first-degree homicide and hiding the corpse of a child.
Harper’s mother has not been charged.
