Interestingly, Charlotte’s journey into the world of toy restoration wasn’t a straightforward one. Her career began in a completely different field, where she was involved in developing a prototype wind turbine. Unfortunately, her role came to an end when the company faced financial difficulties and had to lay off staff.

Describing this career shift to the BBC, Charlotte recounted, “The job I had before this was helping build a prototype wind turbine. We ran out of funding and I got made redundant. A colleague suggested, ‘My partner has a toy hospital and they’re short-staffed. While you’re job hunting, why not assist them since you have many transferable skills?’

Charlotte soon discovered a passion for the work and decided to remain at the toy hospital. Since its inception in 2017, the hospital has treated a wide array of patients, including Barbies with broken limbs, teddy bears with damaged ears, and dolls requiring new hair.
