President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has given the green light for the CIA to engage in covert activities in Venezuela, a move that increases U.S. pressure on President Nicolas Maduro’s regime.

According to a report by The New York Times, which cited several U.S. officials, this authorization empowers the CIA to undertake lethal operations targeting Maduro or his administration. These actions can be executed independently or as part of broader military efforts.

Currently, it remains uncertain whether any specific operations are in the pipeline or if this authorization is merely a precautionary measure.
