In Beaufort County, South Carolina, a significant development has unfolded in the tragic case involving the death of an 18-year-old football player from Bluffton. The fourth individual implicated in this case has now entered a guilty plea.
Shaynia Void admitted her involvement in the 2021 shooting that claimed the life of DJ Fields. The incident, which took place on March 5, 2021, saw Fields fatally shot and two other teenagers injured when gunfire erupted as they traveled in a vehicle along Bluffton Parkway.
Void’s plea covers charges of second and third-degree assault and battery by mob. Her brother, Jayden Void, faced similar accusations and was handed a 12-year prison sentence in June, with part of his sentence suspended and credit given for time already served.

Towards bringing justice for Fields, two other individuals have been convicted of his murder. Ty Chaneyfield has been sentenced to life in prison, while Jimmie Green received a 40-year prison term.
Two men have been found guilty of Fields’ murder: Ty Chaneyfield, who received a life sentence, and Jimmie Green, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison
Shayniah and Jayden were accused of telling Green that someone he was looking for, an “opp,” or opposition, that he wanted revenge on for shooting up his house, was in the area.
Fields and his friends were not the people Green and Chaneyfield were targeting, making it an apparent case of mistaken identity.
Shaynia is expected to be sentenced next month.
Another suspect, Messiah Anderson is awaiting trial on murder charges. His trial is expected to start in January.
