In a poignant development in the ongoing search for Lucinda Miller, authorities have discovered human remains believed to be hers. The 24-year-old Victorian woman had been missing since October 16, 2022, after taking a rideshare from Melbourne to her home in Neerim South, West Gippsland.

This discovery coincides with the third anniversary of Miller’s disappearance, marking a bittersweet milestone for her family and friends who have long awaited answers. The renewed search effort by police this week has, at last, brought some closure, although the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain a mystery.

Police have stated that there is no evidence to suggest foul play in Miller’s death. While the investigation continues, her loved ones are left to grapple with the tragic outcome of this long and arduous search.

The remains were located this morning on the anniversary of her disappearance, police have confirmed.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Around 60 people were involved in the renewed search effort this week.

“Local police would like to extend their thanks to the Neerim South CFA, SES, DEECA and the AFP for their support and assistance,” police said in a statement.

Authorities began scouring bushland arond two kilometres north of the original search area around McDougal Road in Neerim South on Monday.

Police used dogs capable of sniffing out electronic devices in the hope of finding Miller’s phone.

Detectives appealed to anyone who had been walking in bushland around McDougal Road, near the intersection of Whitelaw Track, to come forward.

Detective Senior Constable Michael Fowler said earlier that search crews would be keeping an eye out for Miller’s clothes and two vodka bottles she was known to be carrying.
