EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. () — Edgefield County has introduced a new platform for parents to express their concerns about school bus services or commend drivers for their efforts.
Through this newly launched online feedback system, parents in Edgefield County can quickly connect with the district’s transportation department. This marks a significant improvement in communication efficiency.
“In the past, we advised individuals to reach out directly to the transportation office. The staff would then evaluate the situation, and if necessary, involve additional district personnel,” explains Mike Rosier, the Public Information Officer for Edgefield County Schools.
With the new system, parents can conveniently submit compliments or highlight issues via their smartphones or computers. This initiative comes on the heels of last month’s arrest of a former bus driver on charges of DUI and child endangerment. Officials believe that the system will help restore trust and enhance accountability.
“Our review did not uncover any major oversights. However, we recognized an opportunity to improve communication channels and increase efficiency in managing school bus transportation,” officials stated.
Concerns can range from serious issues to simple bus stop disagreements. The system makes sure they’re heard and handled within 24–48 hours, with multiple staff — including the transportation supervisor and director of administration — alerted at the same time for faster follow-up.
“Since the system came online on Monday, we’ve had four concerns and three praises for our bus drivers.”
Parents can access the tool online or via a QR code. Officials say it could expand to other areas. The link is on the district website.
