Anne Twist, the mother of Harry Styles, has paid heartfelt tribute to Liam Payne on the first anniversary of his untimely passing. Payne, who tragically died at the age of 31, fell from a hotel balcony in Argentina in October 2024. A subsequent toxicology report revealed the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system.
In the wave of tributes that poured in on Thursday, Anne Twist shared her own moving message in remembrance of her son’s former bandmate. She reposted a touching tribute from the All On The Board Instagram account, which offered a poignant message for the late singer.
The tribute read, “May heaven be a paradise for you where you’re safe and nothing can hurt you, may you feel the love from Earth in your new home there.” The message was addressed to Payne’s family, friends, his One Direction bandmates, the devoted Directioners, and his beloved son Bear.

Liam’s bandmates had shared their own respective tributes to their pal in the wake of his death last year, and a month later they bandmates reunited at his funeral for the first time since their split in 2016.

Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy also shared a snap of flowers she’d been sent on the anniversary of her partner’s death, with a note saying that ‘October was a hard month for her’
Last week Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy also revealed how she ‘didn’t want to live’ following his death.
She slipped into a two-month depression after the One Direction singer’s tragic passing.
‘I was always just kind of doing nothing and just dealing with that grief and pain,’ she told Page Six, adding she was ‘just not wanting to really live my life.’
After several weeks, she said, ‘I finally realized, ok, I need to live my life, I need to get up, get out of bed.’
Kate said she started by setting an alarm to get out of bed one hour earlier day after day.
She then began ‘working out,’ ‘eating clean,’ and living her life not only for herself, but for Liam.
As Liam died without leaving a will, he was declared intestate, which means as an unmarried parent his estate is shared between any children.
It is therefore likely that the fortune Liam made during his boyband years and which, despite his drug and alcohol addictions, he managed to cling on to, will be placed in a trust for his eight-year-old son Bear.
Daily Mail revealed in May that Liam’s ex Cheryl was tasked with safeguarding his fortune until their son Bear is older.
Friends of the former boyband star expressed how he was adamant to make sure his only son would be well looked after in the event anything happened to him.
Payne left a total of £28,595,000, which was later reduced to £24,280,000 after his expenses and debts were paid, according to court documents.
‘It is a small consolation that Bear will never want for anything, that he will at least benefit from that,’ a source close to the late singer said.

Liam first found fame as a member of the boyband One Direction (pictured in 2012), and following his death, his bandmates reunited for the first time in eight years to attend his funeral
The source added: ‘Liam had some very sensible people around him for a time and he adored Bear so much. He always wanted to do the right thing by him financially.’
Liam’s estate was published as a limited Ad Colligenda Bona grant, which is commonly applied for during the sale of a deceased person’s property, where the deceased’s executors may have found a buyer for the property shortly after the death.
Cheryl was named in the legal documents alongside Richard Bray, a top music lawyer with a track record of representing stars including Ed Sheeran.
In October, fans of Liam were left stunned by his sudden death from a third floor balcony fall at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina.
His medical cause of death has been confirmed to be ‘polytrauma’, a term which means a person has multiple traumatic injuries to their body.
Five people have been charged over the singer’s death in Argentina after he plunged from a third-floor balcony.
The hotel’s manager, a receptionist and a friend of Payne have been charged with manslaughter, Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office previously said in a statement.
