Pelosi tells LindellTV to ‘shut up’ after Jan. 6 question

In a recent encounter, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) firmly told a conservative journalist to “shut up” when questioned about her actions on January 6, 2021.

The reporter, representing LindellTV—a media outlet established by Mike Lindell, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump—persistently followed Pelosi outside the Capitol on Wednesday. She repeatedly inquired about a thoroughly debunked assertion that Pelosi had rejected calls to deploy the National Guard during the Capitol riot nearly five years ago.

Alison Steinberg, the journalist, asked Pelosi, “Are you at all concerned about the new January 6th committee finding you liable for that day? Why did you refuse the National Guard on January 6th?”

Surrounded by aides, Pelosi turned to respond to the persistent questioning.

“Shut up,” Pelosi retorted, clarifying, “I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it.”

“Why are you coming here with Republican talking points as if you’re a serious journalist?” Pelosi asked.

Steinberg responded: “The American people want to know. We still have questions. Thank you.”

Trump and his allies have long claimed that the president made a “recommendation for troops” on Jan. 6, 2021, but that Pelosi denied his request. A congressional investigation into the attack found that Trump made no such request.

The Speaker of the House does not have authority over the National Guard.

Former acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller also testified under oath that Trump did not give orders to prepare troops before that day.

In footage released after the attack, Pelosi and then-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) are seen hastily making phone calls from a secure location to members of Trump’s Cabinet and to nearby governors, asking them to send in National Guard troops to protect the Capitol.

Republicans last month voted to create a new Jan. 6 investigative committee, which will revisit the attack almost three years after the initial Jan. 6 select committee delivered its report blaming Trump for inciting the riot. The new panel also has powers to investigate the old one.
