Snoop Dogg Has Tender Moment With Eliminated 'The Voice' Contestant

The Voice, the popular singing competition, offers aspiring talents the opportunity to break into the music industry. During the initial episodes of each season, contestants take the stage to perform for a panel of judges, who listen with their backs turned. If a judge is captivated by a contestant’s voice, they can press a button to swivel their chair around, signaling their interest in having that singer join their team.

In a recent episode, a young contestant faced disappointment when none of the judges turned their chairs for her performance. Despite this setback, she received uplifting support from coach Snoop Dogg, whose encouraging remarks have been widely praised.

Myra Tran took the stage to audition for The Voice with a rendition of Clean Bandit’s “Symphony.” Although she entered the competition with high hopes, those hopes were dashed when none of the judges chose to turn their chairs. As the realization set in, Myra became emotional. It was then that Snoop Dogg stepped in, offering heartfelt words of encouragement to lift her spirits.

Myra Tran Didn’t Get Any Chair Turns

When Myra Tran auditioned for The Voice, she performed a cover of Clean Bandit’s song “Symphony.” Though she came in with lots of hope, it was quickly dashed when none of the judges turned their chair for her. After the performance ended and Myra realized her fate, she grew emotional, and that was when Snoop stepped in to offer some warm words:

Myra, Myra on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all? The song sounded good. It’s just not what I’m looking for. But I think you did a great job performing it and [that] you have the skill set to actually be great.

Snoop’s kind words inspired the other coaches to do the same. “You brought so much energy to the room, and I’m so glad that you came here and experienced this. This is not an easy thing to do. I want to make that very clear,” fellow panelist Niall Horan added. “Sometimes it’s just not your day, and for me, this wasn’t about your voice. I think it really was song choice and arrangement,” pointed out Michael Bublé.

Maya Joined The Competition On Behalf Of Her Home Country

It seems that Maya was feeling the pressure in her audition not just because she wanted to move forward in the season, but also because she wanted to represent her home country. In another moment during the episode, Maya, who is originally from Vietnam, explained that she wanted to do justice to her background as well:

The Voice was my dream when I was just a little child, and I want to make my family and my country proud of me.

Snoop seemed to be sensitive to this part of Maya’s experience, too, and he added some additional words of support on the matter. “You made them all proud today. It takes a lot to come up here as a performer. So you made your family proud,” he said. “You made your country proud. Sometimes it’s not always about winning. Sometimes that L is a lesson. It’s not a loss. It’s a lesson,” he added encouragingly.

While Maya won’t be moving forward on this season of The Voice, there’s no rule stating that participants cannot audition in multiple seasons, so it’s very possible this isn’t the last we’ll see of her or her singing career. As the rest of the season moves forward, it would appear that everyone around Snoop Dogg, including his fellow judging panel, are all very impressed by the way he handles letting participants down.

Snoop’s fellow coach Niall noted how much he enjoyed getting to work with Snoop and seeing his warmth and professionalism. “Snoop Dogg, he’s a man with a huge heart. Like, the way he dealt with the scenario with Myra. It’s incredible to see,” he gushed.
