Authorities are once again urging the public to come forward with any information surrounding the mysterious death of a toddler in Queensland, an incident that unfolded under troubling circumstances in 2022. This renewed appeal follows the uncovering of “inconsistencies” in the initial accounts provided to the detectives.

The tragic event began on December 30, 2021, when paramedics were urgently dispatched to a residence on Staaten Street in Burpengary. Upon arrival, they encountered a 16-month-old boy in critical condition. The child was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his condition on January 8, 2022.

In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, a comprehensive investigation was promptly initiated. This effort was spearheaded by the Pine Rivers Child Protection Investigation Unit, working in collaboration with both the Child Trauma Unit and the Homicide Investigation Unit.

Police have today advised that they have received new information in their investigation.

“Ongoing investigations have identified a number of inconsistencies from information initially provided,” a police statement reads.

“Investigators are renewing their appeal for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or concerning behaviour in the vicinity of Staaten Street involving a male child in the lead up to Thursday, 30 December 2021 are urged to come forward.”
