A man has been apprehended following a series of alleged carjacking attempts involving four different shoppers in a dramatic incident at a Victorian Bunnings car park.

The suspect reportedly drove a stolen vehicle dangerously close to a woman who was retrieving a pram from her car at the Bunnings location on Princes Highway in Norlane, Geelong, just moments before the alleged carjacking attempts unfolded.

The chaotic sequence of events began earlier in the day when police identified a stolen grey Haval at the intersection of Dorcas and Moray streets in South Melbourne around 1:15 PM.

Upon noticing law enforcement, a man and a woman allegedly fled in the stolen car, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle as it traveled along the Princes Freeway toward Norlane.

It is claimed that once the vehicle reached the Bunnings car park, it nearly hit a woman who was busy taking a pram out of her car, escalating the tension of the situation.

Police said the man got out of the stolen Haval and allegedly attempted to carjack four separate vehicles.

No members of the public were physically injured.

Police arrested the man about 2.45pm.
