In an incident that unfolded in Gainesville, Florida, authorities took Andrea Lavon Watson, 45, into custody following accusations of assaulting her neighbor with bricks during a heated confrontation.

The altercation occurred on the evening of October 16, around 5:57 p.m., when officers from the Gainesville Police Department were called to the North Lincoln Heights neighborhood. The conflict reportedly began over a backyard fire that Watson had started, which led to a dispute with her neighbor. Attempting to prevent any potential damage to her property, the neighbor used a hose to soak her yard, inadvertently spraying Watson in the process.

The neighbor claimed that after being sprayed, Watson retaliated by hurling a brick or rock in her direction. Missing her target, Watson allegedly picked up another brick, striking the neighbor’s hand and causing a minor laceration. Notably, the responding officer observed that Watson’s shirt was still wet upon arrival, corroborating the neighbor’s account. Furthermore, a pile of bricks in Watson’s yard matched those found at the scene of the incident.

Following her arrest and after being read her Miranda rights, Watson reportedly confessed to throwing two bricks at the neighbor. She also mentioned that she had picked up a third brick but refrained from using it once the neighbor ceased to spray her with water.

Post Miranda, Watson reportedly admitted to throwing two bricks at the victim and added that she picked up a third brick but put it down when the victim stopped spraying her with water.

A witness reportedly told the officer that he saw the victim spray Watson with a hose, and Watson picked up a brick, threw it and missed, and then picked up a second brick, which hit the victim.

The officer noted that due to the size of the brick, “one could believe that it could cause great bodily harm when thrown.”

Watson has been charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm. She has two misdemeanor convictions (non-violent). Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $50,000 and prohibited her from returning to her home.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
