Warning: This article includes spoilers for “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage,” Season 2, Episode 1 — “A Tie Breaker and a Huge Mistake.”

The second season kicks off with Georgie Cooper (played by Montana Jordan) embracing more adult responsibilities in “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.” His confidence as a co-owner of McAllister Auto and Tire has him dreaming of a future where he’s known as the charismatic Dr. Tire, the face of a major tire empire. However, his partner Ruben (Jessie Prez) isn’t thrilled about Georgie’s vision, especially when Georgie suggests Ruben play a lesser role as a sidekick in upcoming commercials, a proposal Ruben finds displeasing as he already feels like a junior partner.

For those curious, Georgie’s aspiration to become “Dr. Tire” won’t materialize just yet. According to co-creator Steve Holland, in an interview with TVLine, viewers will have to wait for that development. “We’re not rebranding to Dr. Tire this season,” Holland shared. “It’s merely a playful hint for dedicated fans. Georgie keeps this moniker in mind as a nod to his future accomplishments.”

Holland also mentioned that while Georgie’s dream of expanding the business across Texas and the nation won’t unfold immediately, it’s a goal for the series. “We haven’t fully explored that yet, but we aim to,” he stated. “In ‘Big Bang,’ Georgie is recognized as the tire king of Texas, and his ambition remains undiminished. I believe he will eventually oversee a national chain.”

What will immediately shape Georgie’s journey is his ongoing clash with Ruben, as Steve Holland notes this tension will be a central theme in Season 2. “The dynamic between Georgie and Ruben this season is all about that push and pull,” Holland disclosed to TVLine. “Georgie is eager to expand, while Ruben remains cautious, insisting, ‘We can’t take on more debt.’ This friction will fuel much of their storyline this year.”

The fight between Georgie and Ruben will be a big part of Season 2

What will be an immediate part of Georgie’s future? Conflict with Ruben, which Steve Holland reports will be a recurring theme in Season 2 of “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.” “[P]art of Season 2’s dynamic between him and Ruben is that push-pull,” Holland revealed to TVLine. “Georgie wants to go full steam ahead, while Ruben’s the cautious one saying, ‘We can’t take on more debt.’ That tension drives a lot of their story this year.”

Holland is right, because Georgie and Ruben still haven’t learned to solve their problems on their own. It takes Jim (Will Sasso) jumping in to mediate their disagreement over the tire shop to get them back on the same page. But they can’t agree on whether or not they can afford an accountant to solve their debt issues. They end up solving their argument over the business’ accounting with a foot race. Georgie wins — but his blistered feet pay the price after he runs the course in cowboy boots. One way or another, Georgie and Ruben will have to sort themselves out, or say goodbye to what they’ve built.
