A man from North Carolina has been taken into custody following the deaths of two relatives.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office reported being dispatched to a Winston-Salem residence around 10:30 a.m. on Friday. This came after a family member alerted authorities, having received a text from Stephen Curtis Hicks suggesting he had harmed family members.
Upon arrival, deputies received no response at the door. They discovered an unlocked entrance and proceeded inside, where they found the deceased bodies of 76-year-old June Hicks and 45-year-old Stephen Eric Hicks.
Inside the home, they also encountered 78-year-old Stephen Curtis Hicks, who had sustained minor injuries that were self-inflicted. He was arrested and faces two counts of first-degree murder.
Hicks is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on October 20.
No further information was released, including how the victims were related to their killer.
