WASHINGTON — The recall of Foster Farms corn dog products has expanded significantly due to injuries from wood pieces found in the batter. As detailed in an updated health alert on Friday, an additional 118,098 pounds of these products are being pulled from shelves.

In total, Foster Farms has now recalled close to 4 million pounds of frozen corn dogs from various batches.

This alert pertains to poultry corn dog items produced from July 30, 2024, through August 4, 2025. Consumers can identify the affected products by checking for the “establishment number” P-6137B on the packaging.

The recalled corn dogs were distributed to retail and institutional locations across the country, including those associated with the Department of Defense and USDA Commodity Foods donations, as reported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Officials are worried products may be in customers’ freezers, as many of the products have “use by” dates well into 2026. Customers are urged not to eat the products and instead throw them out or return them to the place of purchase. 

Hillshire Brands Company also recalled nearly 60 million pounds of Jimmy Dean and State Fair brand corn dog products made between March 17 and Sept. 26. 

An investigation into multiple reports of injuries found the corn dog batter had been “contaminated” with pieces of wood.
