SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Across the United States, authorities have revoked the driving licenses of 5,500 commercial truck drivers who failed basic English language tests while operating north of the border. This was revealed by Israel Delgado Vallejo, the vice president of Mexico’s Northwest Chamber of Freight Transporters.

“We have recorded 5,500 licenses as being out of service and suspended. There is a noticeable increase in enforcement measures,” stated Delgado Vallejo.

About six months ago, President Trump issued an executive order that reinforced an existing regulation. This law requires commercial truck drivers to have a sufficient command of English to read road signs and communicate effectively with law enforcement officers.

Speaking to El Sol Newspaper in Tijuana, Delgado Vallejo mentioned that he anticipates the strict enforcement of this rule to persist through the end of the year. He noted that states like Texas have seen the most significant number of license suspensions.
