SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Coastal Empire and Lowcountry are witnessing a wave of “No Kings” protests this Saturday, orchestrated by local political groups aiming to voice their discontent with the nation’s leadership.

At the heart of these demonstrations is a demand for constitutional adherence. Kris Mecholsky, co-founder of Coastal Georgia for Democracy, emphasized that their protest centers on the belief that the president is disregarding constitutional mandates. In contrast, critics like Kevin Hennely, Chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party, dismiss these actions as historically “out of touch.”

In a vivid display of dissent, hundreds convened on Hilton Head Island, participating in the “No Kings” rally. Enthusiastic honks echoed from passing cars as protesters lined Williams Hilton Parkway, brandishing signs that called out the president’s policies and the government’s current trajectory.

One protester articulated the sentiment shared by many, stating, “Our system of checks and balances and our Constitution must be upheld. Everyone desires a safer, more prosperous nation, but not at the cost of trampling over our Constitution. We’ve heard one untruth after another from the mouths of Trump and Johnson.”

Organizers reported a turnout of nearly 1,000 individuals, surpassing the attendance of a similar “No Kings” rally held in June. The peaceful protest underscored a growing movement advocating for change and accountability.

Other protests have been organized in Savannah, Statesboro, Rincon and Bluffton.
