Father Xamie Reyes, who serves at Little Flower Parish in Waukegan, has temporarily stepped down from his duties while an investigation is conducted into allegations of grooming and sexual misconduct with seminarians, according to a letter from Cardinal Blase Cupich to the parish community.

“These allegations do not pertain to children or youth, but they do involve seminarians, which is a grave concern. Father Reyes will be residing away from the parish during the investigation of these claims,” Cupich stated in his letter. “I understand this news is unsettling, but it is imperative to ensure that those serving you are suitable for ministry and that everyone remains safe. I appreciate your patience as we thoroughly assess these allegations. It is only through such diligence that we can uphold our commitment to safety for all.”
