INDIANAPOLIS—On a typical Sunday, Lucas Oil Stadium is anything but quiet, filled with the roaring cheers of football fans. However, for 8-year-old Mark Braster, his inaugural experience at a Colts game unfolded in silence.

“My son often feels left out because he can’t communicate with most people,” explained his mother, Veronica Ochoa.

Born deaf, Mark also contends with Pontine Tegmental Cap Dysplasia, a rare congenital condition that affects his mobility. In search of a better education for Mark, Ochoa recently relocated from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis, allowing him to attend the Indiana School for the Deaf.
