Actor Jon Cryer expressed pride on Sunday over being part of what he referred to as the “resistance cringe,” after appearing in the background of a news photo from the “No Kings” protests over the weekend.

In a post shared on the social platform Bluesky, the “Two and a Half Men” star drew attention to the image, which was featured in an article by The Atlantic titled “Resistance Is Cringe — But It’s Also Effective.”

The photograph captured a large crowd of demonstrators holding pro-democracy signs and American flags, encircling a giant banner adorned with the words “We the People” in bold, referencing the preamble of the U.S. Constitution.

“So much this,” Cryer commented in his post.

“This photo is what The Atlantic chose to illustrate resistance cringe, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it,” he added, expressing his enthusiasm.

Cryer included the original photo, along with zoomed-in versions that showcased him standing next to the massive “We the People” banner and holding an American flag. He also included another posed image of himself at the protest.

Cryer was responding to a post from Leah Greenberg, who shared The Atlantic article and wrote, “hell yeah, we’re doing hopepunk, we’re making star wars references, we’re cringemaxxing.”

“caring about stuff is so uncool that it’s cool again, get ready,” she added.

Millions of Americans gathered at No Kings demonstrations across the country on Saturday, protesting President Trump and his administration. Roughly 2,600 demonstrations took place in all 50 states, including in small towns and major cities such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Trump, in an interview taped ahead of the protests, rejected the idea that he was acting like a monarch, saying, “They’re referring to me as a king. I’m not a king,” in an interview on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
