David Beckham is well aware of his wife Victoria’s capabilities in the kitchen—and he doesn’t shy away from expressing it.
On Sunday, October 19, Victoria Beckham took to her Instagram Stories to share a series of clips showcasing her husband David, aged 50, as he prepared a “Sunday roast” for their family in the comfort of their home kitchen.
“Do you need any help in the kitchen?” Victoria, 51, asked, to which David paused and cheekily replied, “From who?” His follow-up answer was straightforward and humorous.
“Absolutely not. Stay away,” the former football star said, catching his wife off guard. “What do you mean, just stay away? I’m ready to help,” Victoria responded, clearly entertained by their playful exchange.
“Well, we are not making a ham and cheese toastie,” David explained as he pushed on with kitchen duties that spanned preparing chicken for the oven and making the traditional British dish of Yorkshire pudding. He added, “We love you.”
Victoria captioned the pair’s exchange, “I won’t take it personally!”
As Victoria kept checking in on her husband, whom she married in 1999 after dating him for two years, her camera also caught the former athlete shooting glasses of tequila.
“Get it down you, David,” Victoria said before asking how many he’d drunk throughout the day’s cooking journey. “Eight,” David responded while pulling out a bubbling cauliflower and cheese dish.
“It’s impressive. You are my hero … [you’re doing] finishing touches, whilst I can’t even make a cheese and ham sandwich. You’ve done an entire Sunday dinner for our family who are visiting. I love you,” Victoria concluded once David’s meal had finally come together.
A final Instagram Story from Victoria showed a full dining table of guests seated alongside one of the couple’s children, daughter Harper. (David and Victoria share four children: Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14.)
The playful moment comes after the impressive extent of David’s culinary skills was revealed in September. Captured on film via his wife again, David was seen making jam in a September 7 Instagram Story. “So, we’ve had a weekend of cooking,” she was heard explaining in the clip. “Well, you have. I’ve been watching. You’ve been making lots of jam using the plums [from our garden].”
David joked that his jam product’s title — “David Beckjam” — was “original” before Victoria then asked “how many” jars had been assembled. “Look, he’s even got his little label machine out,” she quipped, commentating as David rifled through a cooler and retrieved further jars. “David Beckjam 1, 2 [and] we’ve got a whole … lot. I love you! You’re quite the entrepreneur.”
A little over two weeks after the jam video was posted, Brooklyn publicly addressed the ongoing family rift between himself and his parents for the very first time. During an appearance at the Ryder Cup Celebrity All-Star Match on September 24, Brooklyn told the Daily Mail that “everyone is always going to say rubbish,” before moving the subject onto the golf day.
The Beckham family reportedly has been divided since David’s 50th birthday party was celebrated in May. Brooklyn and wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham did not attend the festivities, with Us Weekly reporting in the aftermath that the pair were avoiding interaction with Romeo’s then-girlfriend, Kim Turnbull.
