WHEATON, Ill. (WGN) — Three men from the suburbs are facing serious legal trouble after being accused of plotting to impersonate law enforcement officers during political protests last weekend.
Jonathan Capp, 22, from Wheaton, Andrew Knight, 24, from Darien, and Cole Sarros, 26, from Woodridge, have been charged with conspiracy to falsely impersonate a peace officer and unlawful possession of ammunition without a Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card.
The trio made their first court appearance in DuPage County on Monday. Despite the gravity of the charges, they were released before trial since these offenses do not require detention under current guidelines.
