AUGUSTA, Ga. () – In a significant development on Monday, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office revealed that one of its deputies has been dismissed and taken into custody following a thorough investigation.
The sheriff’s office reported that on October 20, Diana Santiago, who has served with the RCSO since May 2020, was summoned for questioning related to a criminal investigation at around 3:45 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Eugene Brantley issued a statement addressing Santiago’s arrest and immediate termination, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
“We will not tolerate anyone within our ranks engaging in criminal acts or conduct that violates the public trust. The vast majority of our deputies serve honorably and work hard every day to protect and serve the citizens of Richmond County. I commend the investigators who conducted this case professionally and thoroughly. Accountability begins within our own agency, and we will continue to take every necessary step to ensure the integrity of this office and the confidence of our community.”
